Rush Milkweed -or- Desert Milkweed -or- Skeleton Milkweed -or- Ajamete, family Apocynaceae (Dogbane)
This perennial milkweed species is unusual in that it blooms all year round. It's range is small, see the plant panel. Like other milkweed species subulata is somewhat toxic, which may vary from person to person according to sensitivity. Side effects for some come in the form of DERMATITIS from contact with the plant's sap. Given proper handling the species can be medically beneficial.
USES: Per the website Native American Ethnobotany are the following Pima tribe uses: Plant used as a physic, emetic, treatment for sore eyes, stomach disorders, many unspecified ailments, and considered a poison.

Bloom season: Per CALFLORA, this species blooms every month all year long. What a goer!
Habitats are dry slopes, mesas, plains & desert washes to 3000 ft. The 'foliage' view in this panel shows the stems of the plant. Subulata is almost always without leaves except for short periods after rain.

White Domes Trail - Valley of Fire State Park - May 30, 2017
Flowers of subulata on the White Domes hike were a pleasing shade of pink. Unknown if this was caused by slightly different growing conditions or age of blooms.
