Triangular Leaf Globe Mallow -or- Small-leaf Globemallow -or- Smallflower globemallow (Sphaeralcea parvifolia), family Malvaceae (Mallow)
The numerous clusters of blooms, claiming their place up and down it's lateral stalks allow parvifolia to put on an attention getting display. We were delighted with this tall species, which can grow up to 3 feet in height, on average. Ironically the species is often named 'small-leaved globemallow'. We have only found two other species of Sphaeralcea (coccinea and grossulariifolia) but parvifolia has by far the largest leaves of all. Like those, this species is a perennial. Good photos of parvifolia flowers can be seen on the National Park Service website, here.Flower
